Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is an intervention used to help one with variety of mental and emotional difficulties. It eliminates or controls troubling symptoms that will enable an individual to function better and to elevate wellbeing and healing. Therapy offers individuals the opportunity to learn about themselves, others and their environment, assisting in building better relations with others.
I am trained in Systems Theory, which aims to obtain homeostasis within a system. To create an effective system, we consider the expectations, needs, desires and behaviors of all members within the systems. I grew special interest in the use of Positive Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. The focus of Positive Psychotherapy moves away from what is wrong towards what is good and positive. This model allows individuals to use their inner resources to overcome challenges, to understand and recognize areas of growth, and to build resilience and greater sense of wellbeing. DBT helps individuals to understand how their thoughts affect their emotions and behaviors. Rather than depending on effects that cause problems for the individual, the treatment helps the individual to learn healthier ways to cope.
